THE LEGEND
An ancient legend tells that God wanted to offer the angels a land in which to live as a gift as long as they looked for it. After a long search, they found Sardinia, the only place where hatred and malice did not reign and the inhabitants lived peacefully dedicated to sheep farming and agriculture. God kept his promise and the angels settled there.
This fact triggered the envy of Lucifer, who tried to instigate a quarrel between the angels in order to expel them from this earth, but they opposed them and engaged in a battle, unleashing very high waves in the gulf which caused Lucifer to be thrown from his steed. The Archangel Michael emerged triumphant from the gulf with sword in hand while the enraged Lucifer hurled the saddle of his horse onto the promontory of Sant'Elia at the point where today you can see the picturesque ridge called the Devil's saddle.
The most secret Sardinia, the south that still hides the mysterious virginity of expanses of crystalline waters and places barely touched.
With "its wild solitude", "the immense and profound silence", "the splendor of the sky" and "the immensity of its sea", Sardinia has enchanted poets, artists and writers.
